The last night of the Vertigo tour for me. After having enjoyed 4 shows in Europe and 4 magic nights in the Madison Square Garden, night 5 was the end of the 2005 touring era.
With the blessing of being able to be in 'the heart' again for the final night it was great to see U2 preform in a 'small venue' comparing to the stadiums in Europe.
After having enjoyed New York for 2 days before the final concert I wasn't as prepared as I should have been... I took in my DAT, mics and luckily my photocamera too.
Just before the show I realised that I hadn't changed batteries since night 4... So I had to think fast what to do. I decided to change 2 batteries from my photocamera with the DAT
and pull the record-button as close to the start of the show as possible.
Luckily the tape made it till halfway Vertigo at the end. So hopefully you like the recording as much as I do.
I wish U2 would have taking it's original setlist while "Walk On" and "40" were written there. But a fan at the front shouted to Bono "Party Girl" and he took it to the show.
Because the athmosphere was so great and powerful in the house that night I think the decided to re-do Vertigo instead of let us sing along with "40" which luckily was played the 3 nights before.
Afterall a nice recording (I think ;-) ) with great thanks to the Dutchbaker for upgrading the original tape.
Enjoy!

Recording notes:
As explained above the batteryproblem unfortunaly resulted in recording-issues. After about an hour into
the show the right channel starts dropping slowly. In the beginning it's about 3dB lower, but by the end of the
recording we find outselves at about 15-18dB(!) lower, resulting in a massive imbalance.
Finding the reasonable spots to cranck up the volume was the first challange. If you listen closely you
can probably hear some remnants of it. An additional problem with crancking up the volume is the introduction
of a higher noise-floor, or hiss as we know it. I had to put out some tricks to get it lowered again. In the end
it's still there, but to me in a reasonable amount. Due to the lowered batteries the last Vertigo is cut halfway,
sadly making it, an incomplete recording.
