Show Notes: An overcast night in Melbourne with the weather forecasters predicting a slight chance of a shower - that slight chance came to fruition during 'Where The Streets Have No Name', prompting Bono to sing a snippet of Singing In The Rain. Marvel Stadium has a retractable roof and it was open, so when it started to rain we all got wet standing there. Given I was recording and I had no rain protection, this was not ideal. As such I was forced to stand there with my hand over my recording device until it stopped. Finally they decided to close the roof, but it took a few songs, and it wasn't fully closed until Red Hill Mining Town. You can't really tell on the recording though. I was pretty wet, but I managed to soldier on recording.
A terrific show by U2, I saw (and recorded) one of the shows from Metlife Stadium in New Jersey in 2017 while on holiday (remember them?), and I thought this performance was better, with some great setlist choices outside of the Joshua Tree album. The band were firing on all cylinders. They clearly love playing Australia and we love them. These were U2's first Australian shows in almost 9 years. Let's hope they weren't the last.
Recording Notes: This is a decent recording, but I was annoyed by some audience chatter around me at times which is why I held off sharing my recording at the time, that and another great recording also came out. Now a year has passed, I think this recording is good enough to be heard as an alternate source to that one. It was extremely loud in the venue so I had to do some declipping and work on the audio a bit to make it sound better. I think it sounds really good now (except for the audience chatter at times, sorry can't do much about that). Samples provided so you can judge for yourself.
