Finally spent some time trolling through the JEMS archives (harder than you'd think) and what do you know, found not one but two masters of the Sacramento Zoo TV show. Had forgotten we set up Brother KM with one deck and the Sonic Studios (he ran at 32khz so he wouldn't have to change tapes), while we ran the unwieldy Nakamichi 300 shotguns and a second deck (Panasonic SV250) from another location.

I will post both recordings eventually but got to this one first (each has merits: the Nak version sounds a bit closer with less audience to my ears but has a cut at the start; this one is complete and some of you seem to favor the sound of Sonics over Naks anyway if the response to No. 99 is any indication). Samples of both are found below to help guide you.

The Sonics recording is clear but as I said a little distant, not unlike the San Diego master I posted a while back, but better than that. Another short show like SD, as Bono explains that he's sick, but interesting just the same.

Kudos to Brother KM for his yeoman work in this era. When I see him in person this coming weekend, I will send your collective appreciation. He's still a big fan, even though his taping days are over.

Found a few other goodies in the archives as well. How strong is the appetite for alternate recordings of shows with known, well-circulated recordings?
